Readers' comments:
"My family and I were almost caught in a terrible flood in Asia. We were
luckier than most and reached some high ground. Days later, things could not
have been worse. There was no public water. No immediate help from Aid
Agencies and all the ground water was contaminated with salt and filth.
Lucky for us, I had just read James Mandeville's book Disasters Happen a
few days before we left on holiday. It took us some time to get what we
needed together but using the knowledge I had gained from reading this
excellent book I was able to find food in the forest and collect water and
make it drinkable. I had the added satisfaction of being able to help others by showing them what to do. I cannot praise this book enough..."

I think schools should use this book to teach children the basic facts of survival but the section on spear traps should be taken out of the book if children read it…"
